BeeComm Integration Plugin

Overview

This project was a custom WordPress plugin built for restaurant e-commerce that connects WooCommerce orders directly to the restaurant’s operational flow. The goal was to streamline order handling by ensuring that online purchases were immediately processed on-site, improving speed, accuracy, and overall operational efficiency.

Engineering challenges

The core challenge was bridging traditional e-commerce behavior with real-world restaurant operations. Orders had to be reliably transferred from WooCommerce into a live operational environment, where timing, printing, and communication directly impacted kitchen workflows in real time. This required ensuring consistency, low latency, and dependable execution under real production constraints.

Implementation notes

I built the plugin in PHP on top of WordPress and WooCommerce, adding SMS notifications for real-time order status updates and implementing custom business logic for order handling and kitchen load calculation. This ensured smoother operational flow, better coordination, and improved efficiency in a production restaurant environment.

Outcomes

The result was a significantly improved operational ordering flow that connected the storefront directly with on-site fulfillment processes. This led to more efficient order handling, better coordination, and reduced friction between systems. The project highlights strengths in custom plugin development, systems thinking, and building reliable, integration-heavy solutions in production environments.
